News Release from Bury College
From a Queen’s Award, to an invite to the Royal Wedding, former Bury College student Saeed Atcha is celebrating extraordinary success since completing his A Level studies.
Saeed completed his A Levels in Business Studies, Media Studies and English Language in 2014 before progressing onto Manchester Metropolitan University. In July 2017, Saeed graduated with a PR and Marketing degree. Saeed believes his A Level qualifications equipped him with the skills, knowledge and experience needed to lead an organisation.
During his studies, 22-year-old Saeed managed Xplode Magazine, a publication which gives young people a voice and the chance to develop skills needed for employment. Saeed set-up this publication in 2011 and is very proud to be CEO of the free, quarterly magazine which has over 7,500 copies distributed across Bolton and Bury.
Now, returning to Bury College to front the new ‘Ambition’ magazine, Saeed is on the front cover and an inside story into what he’s doing now.
Saeed said: “Bury College is an excellent college where I got a good base of social and educational experiences. The tutors were very accommodating of all of the social endeavours I had embarked upon and I’m excited to have gone from creating magazines to fronting Bury College’s new magazine showcasing all of the positive things that current and former students have achieved which I think is important to do.”
In recognition of all the hard work Saeed had done in his local community, Saeed was one of the very few people to receive an invitation to the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Saeed added, “The wedding was incredible and completely magical! I received an invitation because the Duke and Duchess wanted people there who were doing good for young people in the community.”
A Bury College spokesperson said: “We are extremely proud of the growing Bury College alumni network and enjoy keeping in touch with former students to find out how their careers are moving forward. Saeed has achieved exceptional career success in his field of expertise and we wanted to celebrate his achievements. Saeed is a great role model to inspire and encourage our future and current students and demonstrate the wide range of opportunities available on completion of a Bury College course.”
In addition to running the magazine, Saeed also serves as a trustee for the Prince of Wales Step Up To Serve #iwill campaign, an initiative which promotes social action among 12-20 year-olds. The former Ladybridge High School pupil has also worked on a Government review into making Social Action more accessible and is a Governor at Ladybridge alongside his commitments to the Advisory Council of the CareTech Foundation.
